2018 Old Testament Scripture Reading Cards for Primary

Are you ready for the first Sunday of 2018? Today I have some great printables for all you Primary Teachers (Senior Primary). Last year I shared some Scripture Reading Cards that are great to use in your classes. I created these for my class last year and found that the children read the scriptures a lot better when I gave them specific scripture references. As always, I wanted to share these updated Old Testament Scripture Reading Cards with you so you can use them in your own class and see if it helps getting the children to read the scriptures. Enjoy!

Primary 2018 Old Testament Scripture Reading Cards

I encouraged my class to cross off at least 4 circles. If they did, and brought their cards with them to class I had a little reward for them. Sometimes it was a small treat and other times I had small toy (Oriental Trading has some great prizes). You could also reward them with a job during class, like assigning the prayer, chalkboard writer, etc.

Right now I only have lessons 1-20, but I am going to work on the remaining lessons and add them to this post as soon as they’re done.

Old Testament Scripture Reading Cards

To make your own Old Testament Scripture Reading Cards all you need is my printable cards (below), paper cutter/scissors, a hole punch, and a ring. That’s it!

First, print off my Old Testament Scripture Reading Cards. I recommend printing the cards onto cardstock so they last longer. I decided to make my scripture reading cards a little smaller this year so that I could fit more to a page. I was able to fit 10 cards per page, YAY!

Once you have the 2 sheets (lessons 1-20) printed, cut each card. Then, grab your cards and punch a hole into one of the top corners. I decided to use a smaller sized hole punch instead of the normal larger hole punch (you can find these at any craft store), I think they fit on the ring a little better and rip less.

Old Testament Animated Scripture Videos

As I was figuring out what scriptures to include on each card I noticed that some of the scripture references that were recommended for the children to read might be a little confusing, especially since I like to only have them read a few verses instead of a whole chapter.

I remembered the Animated Scripture Videos that you can find on LDS.org, here, and thought that would be a great way for the children to better understand what they have read, so on some of the cards you will see that as one of the scriptures down at the bottom. I included the chapter of the video as well as the title. That will make it easier for the children (and their parents) to search for the exact video. I love these videos and used them all the time when I taught in Primary, and the children really enjoyed them too.

You will also see Articles of Faith on some of the scripture reading cards. They aren’t on every card, but they are on quite a few. Hopefully this will help encourage the children to memorize the Articles of Faith.

I sure hope you enjoy my Old Testament Scripture Reading Cards and use them in your Primary class. They would also be great for your family or for your whole Primary. You could encourage each family in your ward to study along with their children and read the scriptures each night. I would love to hear if you use the cards and how it goes, so be sure to come back and leave me a comment.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a wonderful day.
