Hi! It’s Heidi from A Lively Hope I’m delighted to be back today to share a coloring page I created! One of the best ways to help my kiddos listen to General Conference (or our daily read alouds, for that matter) is to keep their hands busy. I’m a big fan of intricate coloring pages because the kids will work away happily for a long time (and by a long time, I mean like 2 minutes) and allow me to be inspired by the conference talks.
The inspiration for this coloring page came from the beautiful hymn “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing”. The first few lines read:
Come, Thou Fount of every blessing
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace
Streams of mercy, never ceasing
Call for songs of loudest praise
I love the image of tuning our hearts to sing the praise of God. It’s a powerful reminder to leave behind my natural selfish inclinations and focus instead on praising God and spreading His love. It’s something I am constantly working on and something I hope to teach my children to do as well.
I like to keep a stack of coloring pages printed and ready to go into our church bag for the kids to color during sacrament meeting. They can also earn a ticket or two in our simple Conference Store for each coloring page they complete while watching or listening to conference. Chrissy from TeepeeGirl.com has shared a lovely collection of coloring pages here and we’ve used them multiple times. I’m excited to share another coloring page with you today and I hope it will be useful to you!
Speaking of preparing for General Conference, you may also be interested in my free General Conference journals. I’ve got a newly updated General Conference Doodle Journal which is a fun way for teens and adults to take notes on each speaker during conference. My favorite method for taking notes during the talks is with my Conference Journal for Busy Moms. It’s great to be able to jot down a quote you hear or an insight you receive in between changing dirty diapers and handing out snacks!
How do you keep little hands busy during General Conference?
