LDS Baptism Gift Idea & Free Printable!

I have been busy working on several different Primary Gift ideas. Last week I shared a 2016 Birthday Gift idea, HERE. I also shared some great Christmas gift ideas on Facebook & Periscope (post to come). And today I have a great LDS Baptism gift idea plus a FREE printable!

A couple years ago I saw the cutest Baptism/Repentance poem on Pinterest. The name of the poem is ‘Parable of the Pillowcase’ written by Jani Jo. You can find the original poem on Jani Jo’s blog, HERE.

So, last year when we were discussing what we would give to the children that were going to be baptized, I remembered the cute poem and shared it with our presidency. Everyone loved it, and since I have a Silhouette machine, I was put in charge of making the baptism pillowcases. 🙂

Here’s a peek at what they look like:

All the children in our ward have loved their baptism pillowcase. My daughter is counting down the days until she gets her very own.

Would you like to make your own baptism pillowcase? Here’s how!

LDS Baptism Pillowcase

First you will need to find your pillowcases. I found ours at Wal-Mart. They had a 2-pack for just under $3.00. You could also take a look on Amazon or even make your own, it’s not too hard, promise!

Next you will need to decide what to put on your pillowcases. We decided to do the CTR shield. If you have a Silhouette, you can cut out your own CTR decals. If not, I have some that you can purchase in my Etsy Shop, HERE! You can choose between fun glitter iron-on vinyl or smooth iron-on vinyl in lots of different colors. The glitter is a little more expensive, but it’s so pretty! Just stop by my Shop (HERE) to take a look.

You could also create a CTR stencil and paint it onto the pillowcases. I’m sure there’s tons of tutorials on creating your own stencil, you could try ‘Googling’ it. 🙂

I also had an idea today that would be really fun and special. I thought of using fabric markers and inviting the Primary Presidency and/or Primary Teachers to write a short testimony or thoughts on the child’s pillowcase! That would make the pillowcase even more special.

Once you’ve got your pillowcase all figured out and decorated, you can print a copy of the ‘Parable of the Pillowcase’.

I wanted to change a couple words, so I went ahead and created my own version of Jani Jo’s amazing parable. You can print yours out using the links below.

Once you’ve got your parables printed and cut you can attach them to the pillowcase. I usually fold the pillowcase so that the CTR decal is on one side, and then put the parable on the other side, and tie a cute ribbon around the whole gift.

I hope you enjoy my LDS Baptism gift idea, and are able to use it for your own family or Ward. I would love to hear if you do, so come back and leave me a comment.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!

Cute idea!!! Do you have the printable in just black and white and Love (blank) I am the teacher for the 7 year olds.

    1. Hi K! Thanks for the idea. I will work on a Blank/Black & White version, and add it to the post. 🙂

  2. What a great idea for the pillowcase for baptisms. I will ask the primary president about this and see if we can use this idea and get some orders for the decals. Thanks for sharing! I love the parable of the pillowcase as well. Thanks sisters!

I love this idea and would love to print these for our upcoming baptisms in a couple weeks! but the link to the poem isn’t working – did you remove the file? I read the previous post that you may work on a black and white version. Thank you for doing this, I can’t wait to use this for our baptisms next year!

    1. Hi Britany! Sorry about that. Not sure what happened, but I’ve updated the link and added a B&W version. 🙂 Thanks!

    1. Thanks Angela! The children that I have given the pillowcases to, have loved them. 🙂
