Every first Sunday of the month a Bishopric member is in charge of Sharing Time in our Ward. After I shared my ideas for this week’s Sharing Time, here, my husband told me that he was teaching this week. We started talking about the idea in the outline, and other possible ideas. We both loved the idea in the outline, so I started sharing different ideas that he could do. We both liked the ideas, so I decided to share another Repentance Sharing Time Idea and some great printables with all of you.

Repentance Sharing Time Idea

.

The idea from the outline was to have children place pebbles inside of their shoes and compare it to sin. For this idea, you will be doing the same thing, but the children will be following the ‘Steps to Repentance’ to remove those bothersome pebbles from their shoes. I hope you enjoy the idea and the printables that I have shared.

Repentance Sharing Time Idea

Before Primary, print out my Repentance Sharing Time printables found at the bottom of this post. You will also need to gather pebbles (4 for each person/scenario). Instead of pebbles, you could use Tic-Tac candies, balled up pieces of paper, or rock candy (I have seen some pretty convincing rock candy that would be perfect to use).

You will need to cut out the ‘Steps to Repentance’ sheets, as well as the scenario circles. I didn’t include actual scenarios, but those shouldn’t be hard to come up with. If you need some ideas I shared some scenario cards for my Shiny Bicycle Sharing Time, HERE!

Before Primary, place the circles underneath chairs, around the Primary room, or have them posted on a bulletin/chalkboard. Invite a child up and have them choose a pair of shoes (or if they found a pair of shoes under the chair/around the room have them bring it to the front). Have them tell you what number they chose, and then read the matching scenario aloud. For example:

“You are kicking a ball in the house even though your Mother has asked you not to. You accidentally break a lamp, and when your Mother asks if you broke it, you lie and tell her ‘No’.”

After you have read the scenario to the children hand them 4 pebbles and have them place them inside of their shoe. Have the child walk around, and then discuss how sin/wrong choices are like those pebbles.

.

Steps to Repentance

Place the ‘Steps to Repentance’ footprints on the floor, and tell the children that there is a way to get those pebbles out of their shoes. It is by repentance. Quickly explain that there are STEPS to repentance that we need to follow in order to truly repent. Tell them that you have 4 footprints with each of the steps. They are going to go through each step, and discuss what they can do to repent. As they go through each step they will remove one pebble at a time. After the 4th step, they will no longer have pebbles in their shoe. You could have them share how it feels, and then compare that to how repenting can make us feel.

Steps to Repentance Handout

Repeat this until time runs out or until all scenarios have been read. You could even ask the children if anyone has ever followed these steps to repent, and have them share if they’d like.

Explain that because of Jesus Christ, we can repent and receive forgiveness of our sins. Bear testimony that repentance is a wonderful blessing from Heavenly Father and that it brings us happiness.

I created some little handouts that you could pass out as well (pictured above). And I thought it would be cute to give to the children as a handout with their very own bag of ‘pebbles’ (tic-tacs or rock candy).

I hope you enjoy this Sharing Time idea, and are able to use it for your lesson. I would love to hear if you do, and what you plan to do, so leave me a comment letting me know. Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day and a great Sharing Time.
