Update: I know I just posted this today, but I already made a few changes. I decided to play the ‘I will Prepare Now to Meet the Savior’ board game for Family Home Evening, and had to make a few changes. With the orignal game that I posted you will never reach the end (oops), so I changed the ‘move ahead’ pieces to move ahead more spaces, and I added a few extra ‘move ahead’ pieces, so you are at least able to make it to the end. 🙂 And my son (4) and daughter (2) loved the game, even though no one actually won. 🙂
I’m happy to say that our internet issues are fixed, yea! It’s funny, we recently got rid of our Dish Network (T.V.) and I don’t miss it at all. But I definitely would be lost without my computer and internet. 🙂 I’m not on my computer alot, but if I have a question about something or I’m looking for a new yummy recipe to try, that’s the first place I go. So not having it for the few days was killing me! O.K. i’m exagerating, but I did really miss it.
And since our internet is working again I can share my idea for the 3rd week of December:
I really liked the idea that was given in the 2010 Primary Outline, but I just wasn’t too sure it would work so well for Jr. Primary. My Son is a Sunbeam, and I was pretty sure he wouldn’t be very interested. So, with some help from a previous ‘Friend’, I cam up with an idea that I think will be alot of fun and will teach the children about the Second Coming and how to prepare for it.
Instead of having the children be news reporters I thought it would be neat to have the questions and scripture references attached to ornaments. My Mother-in-law has a tiny little Christmas tree that I think I’ll borrow (or just draw a picture of a Christmas Tree) for this Sharing Time. I’ll have the ornaments all around the Primary Room.
I’ll choose a child to find an ornament and read the question/scripture reference aloud. Then as a group we’ll read the scripture and answer the question. Then the child will put the ornament onto the Christmas tree.
We’ll discuss the question and answer a little bit and then I’ll choose another child to find the next ornament.
After all of the ornaments have been found and we have answered all of the questions we will talk about how we can prepare for Jesus Christ to come again. And if there is time we’ll play my ‘I will Prepare Now to Meet the Savior’ Board Game. Just a simple board game that will help the children learn how they can prepare for the second coming.
I’m really excited for this Sharing Time. I think the children will really enjoy it. Now I just have to think of a simple little gift to give to each child….any ideas???
I was also trying to think of different candy that I could use to give to the children, kind of like a candy card. This is what I have so far:
Our Heavenly Father gave us the greatest ‘Treasure,‘ Jesus Christ. (Hershey Treasure)
His gift was more than ‘money’ (100 Grand) could buy.
Heavenly Father sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to be our ‘Savior & Redeemer’ (Lifesaver).
I need to add a few more things, so please if any of you have any idea, PLEASE share. 🙂 And once I come up with something I’ll be sure to share it on here.
I hope all of you have a great week!
