{Sharing Time} August 2016 Week 2: “Shine Your Light” Modesty Sharing Time Idea

This week’s Modesty Sharing Time lesson has a lot of people stressing out. 🙂 I came across a great idea in a Primary Presidency Facebook group I am a member of. If you aren’t in this group, you should be! There are some great ideas shared on this page, just like this one that I am going to share with you. 🙂

In this month’s Friend magazine, there was an article called, “Shine Your Light”, which talked about modesty. I saw a couple people bring up this article in the Facebook group, and said that they would be basing this week’s Sharing Time lesson off of this article.

One sweet sister, Rebecca Carlisle Walker, created an amazing Modesty Sharing Time Idea with some printable flashlights and shared them on the Facebook group. I contacted Rebecca, and asked if it would be ok if I shared her adorable flashlights as well as her idea here on my blog. She kindly said, YES, so for those of you struggling with this week’s Sharing Time, here is another idea. 🙂

Let Your Light Shine

First, download and print out Rebecca’s flashlights. She has created a flashlight for each of the ones shown in the Friend magazine (link below).

Rebecca will have the paper flashlights on a board. She will then have a real flashlight and turn the lights off and “spotlight” a volunteer to come up and pick a paper flashlight. The child will read the phrase that is on the flashlight, and then they will discuss how they can talk/dress/act modestly.

Another sister, Jami Smith, shared that she will have the flashlights hidden around the room. She will give a child a real flashlight and have them walk around the room shining the flashlight to find one of the paper flashlights. Once they find one, they will discuss the phrase on the flashlight.

I even saw another great idea from Angela Maldonado, where she created a Punch-A-Box. Inside each of the punch-a-boxes, was one of the flashlights. I LOVE using Punch-A-Boxes, and so do the children. I have shared a tutorial for creating a Punch-a-Box, HERE and HERE!

I am so grateful for the many resources we have to help one another out. I am so grateful for these sisters and their willingness to share their ideas and printables. If you would like to join the Facebook group, you can do so HERE! Or just search for “LDS Primary Presidencies & Sharing Time” on Facebook.
