Sharing Time Ideas from the 2014 Outline
IDENTIFY THE DOCTRINE (following an example): Clap a simple rhythm and invite the children to repeat it, following your example. Discuss what an example is. Explain that prophets in the scriptures are examples for us to follow.

ENCOURAGE UNDERSTANDING AND APPLICATION (reading scriptures): Divide the children into groups. Give an adult in each group one of the following wordstrips, and ask them to read the scriptures listed on their wordstrip to the  children in their group:

John the BaptistD&C 84:27–28 (was baptized)
Alma the Younger: :
Mosiah 27:23–24 (repented)
Joshua: Joshua 24:15 (served the Lord)
King Benjamin: Mosiah 2:17–18 (served others)
Lehi: 1 Nephi 1:5 (prayed)
Nephi: 1 Nephi 3:7 (kept the commandments)
Brother of Jared: Ether 3:9 (had faith)

Ask the children to listen for what the prophet did to be an example. Ask each group to make up a verse about their prophet to sing to the tune of “Follow the Prophet” (CS, 110–11), and invite them to share their verse with the other children.

Sharing Time Ideas from Little LDS Ideas
Follow the Leader:
To begin your Sharing Time I thought another idea you could do is play a ‘Follow the Leader’ type game. Do several different actions and invite the children to ‘follow’ your example. You could also invite a child up to the front to be your ‘leader’.
After the game discuss what an example is. Explain that the prophets in the scriptures are examples for us to follow.
Scripture Spinner
I remember reading an idea of having a human spinner. I thought that idea would be a great idea for this week’s idea. Here’s what I was thinking:
You will need:
An office chair (one that spins)
7 Envelopes- one for each Prophet
Before Primary you will need to put together your ‘Prophet’ envelopes. You will need one envelope for each prophet listed above…7 envelopes all together. If you can find different color envelopes that would work great!
Inside of each envelope you will need to have an info sheet about that particular prophet. Have several clues listed about the prophet. You can have phrases about each prophet, scriptures, etc.
I have included some ‘Scripture Spinner’ clues that you are welcome to use. Just click the link below!
You can also include a picture of each prophet to show to the children once they have guessed the prophet.
How to Play:
On the ground, around the spinner chair, place each of the envelopes. {You can place masking tape on the ground to create sections for each envelope.}
Invite a child up to the front and have them sit in the chair.
Spin the chair!
When the chair has stopped have them pick up the envelope that they are facing.
Have the child open the envelope (making sure not to show anyone the information sheet or answer) and have them read the clues aloud.
Have the children raise their hand when they think they know who the prophet is. Call on a child to share their answer.
Once the prophet has been guessed correctly, read the scripture and discuss how that prophet is an example to us.
Invite the child who guessed correctly to come to the front and be the next ‘spinner’.
Continue until all of the envelopes have been opened.

That’s it!
I hope you enjoy my ‘Scripture Spinner’ idea. If you use it I’d love to hear how it goes.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a wonderful day & a great Sharing Time!

Love this! Thank you so much. I am excited to try the scripture spinner idea, I will let you know how it goes. I am just wondering if there is a link with all the prophet clues, or if you only have the two?
