Last Saturday we had a RS Activity. We decided we needed to have a VT activity to get the sisters excited about visiting teaching.
My Mother-in-law and I were talking and she brought up the idea of having a brunch. I loved it! As I thought about the brunch I began to think about flowers, and then I thought about comparing Visiting Teaching to flowers and seeds. I had my idea and I started to get excited about it.
I met with my committee and they shared some ideas and before you knew it, we had it all figured out. I loved what we came up with, so I went home and got to work.
After weeks of working on this activity it’s finally finished, and now I want to share it with all of you. 🙂
Each sister received their very own Visiting Teaching Flower Pot.
Inside each pot was a Book Mark, a small handout about Christ (Sun/Son), a Seed Packet, and a bottle of water.
Here’s a closer look at the pots.
I even made up some cute Nutritional Facts for the water bottles.
We also decided to do those fun ‘Flower Pens’ for each sister and use them as centerpieces.
All you need are pens, floral tape, and artificial flowers.
I decided to type up some great Visiting Teaching Quotes and then attached them onto some skewers. Then I placed the quotes in the middle of the flowers.
One of my favorites:
“Be the kind of Visiting Teacher you always wanted!”
Isn’t that a great quote. Short and sweet, but it really makes you think!
Now for the Food!
We had Chicken Salad Croissants, which were DELICIOUS!! Thanks to Shalece! 🙂
I think everyone asked for her recipe.
We also had salads (Green, Fruit, and Pasta). I just sent around a sign-up. And the lovely women of our ward did not disappoint. We had so many yummy salads.
I had some food place cards, mostly for looks. 🙂 But everyone thought they were really fun.
After we ate we showed a fun little Visiting Teaching movie.
If you haven’t seen the one online, you have to check it out! It is hilarious!
We made our own movie, which was alot of work, but really funny.
After the movie, we had 3 sisters speak. These sisters did an AMAZING job! I couldn’t have asked for anything more.
Speaker #1: ‘Planting a Seed’– I can help my sisters GROW by visiting teaching.
Speaker #2: ‘Caring for our seed’– I show love for my sisters and their families as I visit teach them.
Speaker #3: ‘Protecting our seeds/plant from harm’– When our sisters are in need we will not hesitate to help them out.
After the speakers we had dessert. I’m so mad I didn’t take a picture!
Shalece once again amazed us with her delicious Coconut Cake. She found it on Pinterest.
This activity turned out great. We ate great food, watched a great movie (even with major technical difficulties), and listened to some great women.
Do you want to plan your own Visiting Teaching activity? No worries. Today I am sharing all my printables that I used…for FREE! Yeah!
I have changed the link for my printables, and they can all be found in once place now! Yah!
