Sharing Time Idea from the 2011 Primary Outline:
THE DOCTRINE: Show the children a picture of a house. Explain that builders need to have a house plan before they can build a house. Ask, “Why is it important to make and follow plans?” Hold up the scriptures, and tell the children that we can find Heavenly Father’s plan for us in the scriptures. Write on the board “Heavenly Father has a plan for me.” Read the sentence together.
ENCOURAGE UNDERSTANDING (singing songs): Write the following questions on the board…
– Who am I?
– Where did I come from?
– Why am I here?
– What will happen to me after I die?
Give each child a piece of paper with one of the following words written on it: who, where, why or what. Read the first question on the board together, and ask all the children holding the word who to stand up. Sing, “I am a child of God” (CS, 2-3) and ask the children who are standing how they would answer the question. Repeat with each question, using the following songs:
where – “I lived in heaven” (CS, 4)
why – “I will follow God’s plan” (CS, 164-65)
what – “Did Jesus really live again?” (CS, 64)
Sharing Time Idea from Little LDS Ideas
Here is my idea for the 1st week of February: Heavenly Father has a plan for me. Since this is such an important topic I didn’t want to go too far off from the idea that is in the outline. I definitely wanted to show the children the Plan of Salvation and then kind of walk them through what each part meant.
But how do you do this and keep their attention? That’s the hard part isn’t it?
I had looked at quite a few different ideas that all looked great. But once again I just didn’t feel ‘excited’ about any of the ideas I was coming up with.
Then last night, while brushing my teeth of all things, I came up with my idea.
For this idea you will be doing a little skit to introduce your Sharing Time. Your helper will come into the Primary Room looking lost. You’ll ask her if she’s lost and she will answer ‘Yes’. She’ll explain that she is trying to find her way back to Heavenly Father, but she doesn’t know where she came from or where she is going. Then you’ll ask her if she’s used her ‘GPS: God’s Plan of Salvation’ (the GPS idea came from Sugardoodle
You and the children will then show your helper the Plan and explain what it is.
I think the children will really enjoy helping me teach about the plan of salvation. I’m going to ask a Parent or someone from the Presidency to help me out in my skit.
Here is what I was thinking. I’ll have the plan strung onto a string/rope and then have strings hanging from the bottom of each. Then I’ll have 4 poster-boards (Pre-Mortal Life, Earth, Spirit World, & Three Degrees of Glory). On each poster-board will be some little explanation bubbles (those are the smaller circles that you see hanging on the strings). On each bubble there is a little explanation about that part of the plan.
I will choose a child to go and pick a ‘bubble’ from a specific poster-board and then have them attach it to where it goes. I will read it aloud and we will discuss it a little bit. After we have chosen all of the bubbles that go with that area we will move on to the next.
When we get to the Final Judgement we will talk about that just a bit and then I will discuss the Three Degrees of Glory. I will explain that each one is different, then we will begin choosing bubbles. I will have the children guess which Kingdom that bubble belongs to.

It’s a simple Sharing Time, but that’s what the children need to understand this. I’m so grateful for the inspiration that I receive and that I’m able to teach the children such important Gospel truths.
