I have been trying to post my idea for the 3rd & 4th week for a few days now. But I wanted to finish mine so I could take a picture and show all of you. So, finally here is my Sharing Time idea for the 3rd & 4th week of July.
For this week I thought it would be fun to play some kind of board game. As I was thinking about it, I thought of the game ‘Life’. Since the theme is about how Jesus Christ’s example can teach us how to live our life. So, I looked around a little bit and finally came up with this.
Here is a picture of my game board.
So, at the beginning you can show the children the picture of Earth and tell them that right now we are living on the Earth. But we are on a journey trying to get back to our Heavenly Father. Then you can go on to tell them that today we are going to learn about Jesus and the things that He did while on the earth. Tell them that if we learn about Him and follow His example we will be able to make it back to our Heavenly Father.
It’s just a normal board game nothing too difficult. Just to tell you a little bit about it…
There are different squares that the children can land on during the game. The categories are:
Sing: when landed on this square they will have to sing a primary song
Scripture Search: When they land on this square they will be given a scripture reference and a question that they must answer.
Trying to be like Jesus: When they land on this square you will show them the GAK picture and read the story to them. Then you will ask them the question on the card that they will need to answer.
What would you do?: When they land on these you will read a short scenario to them, then they will have to answer the question.
There are also squares that have good/bad scenarios that will tell them to move forward so many spaces or move back so many spaces.
I think the questions are easy enough for Jr. Primary (with help from teachers). But you can always change some to fit the needs of your Primary. I have included everything you need to make your game board (except the poster-board of course). I printed the ‘Trying to be like Jesus’ and ‘Scripture search’ cards on different colored cardstock (blue & green). This way I will know which is which whenever a child lands on that square.
View my document and see what you think. I think the children will have alot of fun. If you don’t want to make the game board, you could also do a life-size game board, that would be really fun.
And please let me know if you have any questions or problems or any other ideas!

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a wonderful day & a great Sharing Time!

Great idea!! I just got released from Primary a couple of Sundays ago, but I think I will use this for a family home evening lesson. My kids love playing board games and such. Thanks for all of your ideas and hard work too, they are all very helpful and cute ideas!!

  2. Jen Higgins

I’m in charge of the first half of this topic (so next week, week 3) and I’m pretty much following the idea in the Sharing Time Outline – matching pictures with songs (and scriptures); If anyone would like the list of what I came up with for matches, please let me know….
(Cute game, though, We may use it for 4th week or for a review later on)

  3. Jen Higgins

Mabel, I can post it on my blog, I suppose – I think if you click on my picture by my comment it will take you there… (http://higglets.blogspot.com/)
I’ll put up what I’ve got either tonight or early-ish tomorrow — it’s nothing earth-shattering, but I figure if it saves someone time, that’s cool, and if you think of some “matches” I didn’t, all the better!

  4. fourballerinas

such a cute idea. I can’t wait to make it. You are TRUELY AWESOME!! Where did you get the cute boy and girl? Will you use them as the game pieces?

  5. Sheena

Deborah- It will probably take more than 15 minutes to finish, but I usually play until time is out.
fourballerinas- I got the little boy and girl clipart from a LDS Clipart CD I have. I’ll send them to your email.
    Thanks everyone for the comments.

I have been tryinmg to print the game and it is printing really wierd. Would you please e-mail me the .pdf. I love the idea and I want to use it for SHaring time and Singing time by adding more songs. Thanks!!! gnielsen@msplawyers.com

  7. Sara

I’m having the same problem as Mandy, do you mind emailing it to me too? I love this, I have been searching for something to do and when I came across this it just seemed to be a perfect fit for our primary. You are amazing, keep up the good work! sarasue29@gmail.com thanks!

  8. Sheena

Jessica- I didn’t even think about that. But you could do that. If you run out of time during the 3rd week, you could just finish the game on the 4th week. Great idea!!
The Saucers- I tried emailing you yesterday, but it was returned to me. Is that the right address by chance?? I tried emailing it again. Let me know. 🙂
And I’m sorry that some of you are having trouble viewing the document. But please email me and I will email it to you.

Sheena, I really appreciate all the time and hard work you put into your ideas. I have stemmed off of several of them and they really get my creative ideas flowing. I love the game board but I was wondering if you used a template to make your cards or just text boxes, I was going to use the same type of thing but want to modify the cards a bit. The download is pdf and I can’t seem to get it in a format that I can modify the text w/in the boxes. Any suggestions? Thank you, Deena

I’ve already made the game & everything printed perfectly for me (our computer is new with Windows 7 – not sure if that made a difference)! Thank you so much for sharing – you must have spent a lot of time on this!

  15. holly b

thanks for putting together and SHARING such a great little activity. I just got everything all printed out and laminated and put together. I was going over the scripture reading cards and noticed you have the same scripture repeated 3 times. I wasn’t sure if this was intentional or not. I think it will still work as is though. fyi just in case it was a typo. : )

  16. Kristen

I love your blog – thanks so much for sharing all your great ideas and hard work! I check here every week I have to teach. Just finished my game board – ready for sharing time!

  17. Sheena

Thanks everyone for the wonderful comments. I love reading them and am glad that all of you liked the game idea.
Holly B- I didn’t even notice that I did that. I probably copy and pasted meaning to create 2 more scripture search cards and never did it. So, thanks for pointing that out. I also noticed on one of the scripture cards there is supposed to be a colon for Matthew 5:6. It’s not Matthew 56. Sorry!!
Have a wonderful evening everyone, and let me know how your Sharing Time goes!!

  18. Nelson Family

Thank you so much for the idea and sharing it. My primary kids are going to have alot of fun. I am keeping this one for future sharing times also. It can be used for several different themes. thanks again.

Thanks again!:)

  23. Bonnie

    Big Thanks from Texas!

  27. Johanna

I’m just wondering if you divide the kids into two teams to play this or if the whole primary plays all together? This is a fabulous idea and I’m excited to use it this Sunday.

  28. Annie

    Hiya. I love this idea!

Would you be so kind as to email me the clipart pieces you used? The little family, girl & boy as well as the world? Thank you so much!

I love this thanks so much! The only thing that I am going to change is the pic of Christ and the little girl. I’m going to use one of the pic from the church’s offical website resized as our primary has been told to not use cartoon images or drawn images of Christ. Thanks so much again I love this idea and can’t wait to use it this Sunday!

  32. Pam

I’m almost in tears because I am completely overwhelmed this week and was stressed about planning ST this week. So when I found this idea and all I had to to was print everything out!!!! It really is a blessing. You have no idea how much help this was for me! I’m amazed at all of your hard work!

  33. Scott and Jamie

I LOVE all your ideas. I used the key and door one, and am doing this game tomorrow for Sharing Time. But for the Christ and Heavenly Father picture and world picture, where did you find that? Would you email me the clip art please?

    Whiteland, Indiana

  34. Scott and Jamie

Oh, and if you could and have time, please also email me clip art of the little kids you used as markers for the game.
And a picture of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ together… please?
    Thanks so much,
    Whiteland, Indiana

  35. Sheena

Pam- thank you so much for your comment. I am so glad the idea was able to help you out. It’s comments like that that make me love doing this. Thanks!:)

dnA- I’m so sorry I didn’t email you the clipart, I was going to, but I don’t have your email. I hope you found something to use.

Charlene- Thanks for the comment. I hope your Sharing Time goes well.

I hope everyone has a great day. Thanks again for visiting my blog and for all your wonderful comments. Thank you!!

  36. Sea Star

I used your game and it went over well. The Jr. Primary seemed to hit all the spaces where you sing songs and the Sr. Primary didn’t hit one song or scripture but hit every one of the pictures. They both want to do it again so they can see what they were missing.

We went from one end to the other in about 15 min each time. So it was perfect for sharing time.

    Thanks for the help!

  37. Tisa

This is going to be perfect! Thank you so much for sharing, I know our Primary will love it too. Do you mind also emailing me the clip-art, I would love all the pics, (earth, family, little boy and girl, Picture of Heavenly Father and Jesus, and arrow if you don’t mind. Thank you soo much!

  38. Mindy

I’m going to use this game on Sunday, but I was wondering if you could email the clipart for the World at the top of the game along with the family and boy and girl clipart. Also, if you are able to email the picture of Heavenly Father and Jesus together, that would be great. We have ward conference this week, so the Stake Primary Presidency will be sitting in on my sharing time! Thanks for the wonderful idea!

  39. Anonymous

Love your idea. I am also having troubles with printing everything out (game pieces, boy, girl, etc) Could you please email them to me
Thank you, so much, for your wonderful ideas. You are very talented!

  40. Cammee

I am new to your site and I feel like I discovered gold! I am using this game for our April week 5 sharing time. I had no issues with printing the game, but I wondered if you still have the other pieces available? If so, would you mind emailing them to me? cammee.baum@gmail.com. Thank you so much for the effort you put in to sharing your wonderful ideas with us.

  41. Tricia

I just found your super cute game and want to do it for sharing time- but I can’t copy and paste or print it. And there is no way I would replicate it as good as you (not crafty!) Is there anyway you can email it to me? I’m not a member of scribd either 🙁

    1. littleldsideas Post author

Hi Tricia. I can email it to you and I will update the link ask well. Just send me an email to littleldsideas{at}hotmail{dot}com or try again later today when I have the links update. Thanks so much for visiting.

  42. Kaerlig Hurtado

Would you mind also emailing me the other clip art that you used (girl, boy, arrow etc.). Thank you so much for all your preparation!

  43. Kasey

Hi Sheena! Just wanted to say first of all thank you so much for sharing this amazing idea! I wish I could be as creative and talented as your little mind is! Secondly, because our primary is so big our Junior primary is split into two groups: 3-5 year olds and 6-8 year olds. I know the 6-8 year olds are going to do great but I’ve been having to edit it just a little for my 3-5 year old group. The only section I’m struggling to modify is the Scripture Search cards. Any ideas you might have to make this easier and more understandable for the littles? Thanks again!
