Sharing Time Idea from the 2013 Sharing Time Outline
IDENTIFY THE DOCTRINE (filling in the blanks): Before Primary, write on the board, “Because of Christ’s _______, I can ______ and live with _____ again.” Write the words Atonement, repent, and God on separate word strips and tape them under three of the chairs in the room. Invite the children to find the word strips and place them on the board in their proper place. Read the sentence together.

(reading scriptures and answering questions): Place pictures of Christ in Gethsemane and the Crucifixion on the board. Cover the pictures with several smaller pieces of paper. On each piece of paper write a question about the event in the pictures and a scripture reference from Matthew 26–27 or Luke 22–23 where the answer can be found. (For example: What is the name of the place where Jesus went to pray? Matthew 26:36.) Divide the children into groups, and ask each group to look up one of the scriptures and find the answer to the question. Have the groups share the answers to their questions and remove the corresponding pieces of paper to reveal the pictures.

ENCOURAGE APPLICATION (seeing an object lesson): Discuss with the children the meaning of the words Atonement and repentance, and explain how the Atonement can bless us (see True to the Faith: A Gospel Reference [2004], 14–20, 132–35). Show the children a gift. Ask a child to try to give the gift to another child, and ask the second child to refuse to receive it. Explain that when we do not receive a gift that is given to us, we cannot enjoy the blessings of the gift. Have the children listen for what they must do to receive the gift of the Atonement as you read together Doctrine and Covenants 19:16.

Sharing Time Ideas from Little LDS Ideas
I hope all of you are having a wonderful day today. My kiddos are home today and tomorrow because of Parent/Teacher conference, so it feels like Saturday to me. But we are having fun and enjoying their 2 days off of school.
Here are some ideas that you can use or incorporate into your Sharing Time lesson this week. Enjoy!

‘Clean Again’ Object Lesson
This idea that you can use to begin your Sharing Time actually came from the 2011 Sharing Time Outline.
You will need something to use to get a child’s hands dirty {I used chocolate syrup when I did this}. You will also need a large bowl and towel to help with the mess.
Invite a child to come to the front of the room
Ask your helper to show all the children their clean hands. Then show the children the chocolate syrup, tell them that this represents sin. You could even make a cute label to put onto your chocolate syrup.
Have your helper hold out their hands and squirt a little syrup onto their hands. Tell the children that the other day (child’s name) lied to his/her parent’s. Then a few days after that (child’s name) cheated at school {add another glob of syrup}.
Then ask the children if your helper’s hands are clean anymore.
They should all say, NO.
Show the children the sentence with the missing words {from the outline}. Tell them that we need to figure out what this says so that (child’s name) can be clean again.
Have the children look under their chairs for the missing words and invite the 3 children up to the front once they have found the words.
Have them show the words to the rest of the Primary and read the words aloud. Then have everyone read the sentence aloud.
Have the children try to place the words in the correct spot.
Once the sentence is correct read it aloud to all the children.
‘Oh, so because of Christ’s atonement (child’s name) can repent and be made clean again, right?’
‘So, how does he repent?’
Have the children share their knowledge of repentance. Have a bottle of soap and some water and label it ‘Repentance’ and have the child wash his/her hands.
Tell the children that today you are going to talk about the Atonement & Repentance.
Encourage Understanding Activity
For this activity your basically using the puzzle idea from the outline, but we’re adding some Easter eggs. 🙂 This will work great for Jr. and Sr. Primary.
You can do the puzzle two ways:
1. Have the pictures posted on a board and have a piece of paper covering the picture.
Use the paper that is covering the picture as the puzzle pieces. The children will take away the puzzle pieces to reveal the picture behind the paper. This might work better for the smaller children.
2. You can print your pictures and cut those into puzzle pieces.
Either way will work.
Next, you will need Easter eggs.
If you decide to do your puzzle like the first option (where the children take puzzle pieces away)you could have your questions and scripture references inside the eggs.
As the children find an egg have them read the scripture and answer the question.
They then can simply pick a puzzle piece to take away or have the scripture references written on the puzzle pieces too and have them find their matching scripture reference.
Another idea for this option:
Have your question and scripture reference written on a piece of paper and place it inside an egg. Then on the puzzle pieces have the answers written (you’ll have the answers on the front of the puzzle pieces, so the children can read what they say).
Invite the first child to find an Easter egg. Have them open it to reveal the scripture reference and the question. Read the question aloud and then the scripture. Have them tell you the answer and then have them find the answer on one of the puzzle pieces.
Once they have found the correct answer have them remove that puzzle piece.
If you decide to do option #2 puzzleyou’ll just need to place the puzzle pieces inside each of the eggs. Just make sure you have the same amount of eggs as you do puzzle pieces. You can have the puzzle piece and a small piece of paper with a question & scripture reference or simply write the question/scripture on the back of the puzzle piece.
Once they have read the scripture and answered the question have them place the puzzle piece on the board where they think it goes.
Once they pictures are revealed you can go on to discuss the Atonement and Repentance a little more. Close with the Encourage Application activity from the Outline.
Bear your testimony of the Atonement and repentance.
