Sharing Time Ideas from the 2013 Primary Outline
INDENTIFY THE DOCTRINE (singing a song): Sing together “Do As I’m Doing” (CS, 276) several times, inviting different children to choose the action to perform. Explain that when we follow the actions of someone else, we are following his or her example. Ask who set the perfect example for us to follow (Jesus Christ). Invite the children to say together, “Jesus Christ set an example for us.”

ENCOURAGE UNDERSTANDING (reading scriptures): Place pictures of the following events on the board: Christ being baptized, Christ with children, Christ praying, and Christ teaching. Read one of the following scriptures together, and ask the children to explain what Christ is teaching in that scripture: Mark 16:15; John 13:34–35; 3 Nephi 11:37; 3 Nephi 18:19. Slowly point to each picture and invite the children to stand when you point to the one that best shows Christ doing what He taught us to do in the scripture you read. Repeat with the remaining scriptures.

ENCOURAGE APPLICATION (drawing a picture): Give each child a piece of paper, and invite them to draw a picture of themselves following Christ’s example. For example, a child could draw himself being baptized, teaching the gospel to a friend, or helping someone. Invite a few children to share their pictures with the other children, and encourage them to share their drawings with their families.

Sharing Time Ideas from Little LDS Ideas
So we’ve been sick again over at my house. But this time we all have had the stomach flu, yuck. Not Good! Let’s just say I’m ready for Spring and for all these germs to get outta here!
When I first saw the title for this week’s Sharing Time I thought it would be easy to come up with some activities to use, but as I read the ideas in the outline my mind drew a blank. I finally decided on two ideas that you could use as an activity for your Sharing Time. I also had an idea that you could use for the ‘Encourage Understanding’ section.
Encourage Understanding:
So in the outline they had the idea of having the pictures posted on a board and have the children stand up when you point to the correct picture.
Here’s another idea that I was thinking of. After the children have repeated “Jesus Christ set an example for us” {From the first section}, show the children a picture of Christ and a pair of sandals. Choose some sandals that look similar to sandals worn during Christ’s life.
Discuss/explain to the children that during Christ’s life he set the perfect example for us to follow. He did things while on Earth that we need to do also. So, to learn about the things that He did they are going to ‘walk in His shoes’ and learn about Jesus Christ and his example.
Have your pictures posted around the room or on a board at the front of the room. Invite a child up to the front and read a scripture, or have the scriptures written on slips of paper and have them choose a piece of paper from a container.
Have the child put on the sandals and walk to the picture that goes with the scripture you just read. After they have chosen the correct picture have them bring it back to you and discuss the picture some more.
Continue until all the scriptures have been read.

Sharing Time Activities:
1. Board Game: As I was searching for ideas I found an article from last year with the title, “Following The Savior’s Path” from President Uchtdorf.
Part of the article said this, “How can you follow Jesus Christ? Following Him begins with learning about Him, having faith in Him, and trying to do what He taught. “
As, I read this short article, I immediately thought of a board game.
Now deciding what your board game will look like is up to you because the possibilities are endless. You could just do a simple board game and have cards with different scenarios on them that indicate how many spaces to move forward or backward. Or you could get more detailed and have different spaces for scriptures, songs, etc.

I shared a board game a few years ago that you could use for this week.

2. Fishing: I know I just shared a fishing idea, but I saw this idea and knew the Jr. Primary always love ‘fishing’. So I had to share it.
This idea came from ‘The Friend’; 2007.
Here is what it said:
“Prepare slips of paper with d situations written on them. Make a fishing pole with a clothespin or safety pin on the end of the line. Bring a bed sheet to be held up by two children. Have the children sit in a circle. Pass a beanbag around as the pianist plays “Choose the Right Way” (CS; 160) or choose another song to fit the themeWhen the music stops, the child holding the beanbag goes fishing by putting his fishing line over the sheet. One of the presidency, behind the sheet, attaches a situation to the fishing line. Have the child or a presidency member read the situation, then ask and discuss, “What does Jesus Christ want you to do?”
Possible situations: (1) Your little brother is having trouble with his math homework. You are good at math. (2) Your big sister thought that you wrote in her schoolbook. She was angry at you, but learned that you didn’t do it. Now she’s sorry. (3) You left your bike in the driveway. Dad is not happy about it. (4) You want to buy a candy bar but will not have enough money if you pay your tithing. (5) You see a mother pushing a stroller and trying to open a door near you.”

You could even have a few fish that say, “How will you follow Christ’s example?” Then have them share a way that they will follow His example.

Well, this isn’t much, but I hope it can get your mind going. Sometimes it just takes one little idea to get you going and before you know it you have an amazing idea for Sharing Time!
Have a wonderful week everyone and a great Sharing Time.
