Sharing Time Idea from the 2012 Primary Outline
IDENTIFY THE DOCTRINE (playing a matching game): Draw a simple ark on the chalkboard.  Prepare several sets of two identical animal pictures.  Give one picture to each child.  Ask the children to stand and make the sound that the animal in their picture makes and to listen for someone else who is making a similar sound.  When the children with matching pictures find each other, have them stand together until all animals have been paired.  Ask the children to come as pairs and put their animals on the ark drawing.  Ask the children, “Which prophet did the Lord ask to gather the animals into the ark?”  Point out that it was probably a difficult task to gather so many animals into the ark, but Noah chose to obey the Lord’s command.

ENCOURAGE UNDERSTANDING (reading scriptures): Show the children a picture of Noah preaching, and read 
Moses 8:20.  Ask the children why they think the people did not listen to Noah.  Divide the board in half, and write the following questions on one side, with the scripture references in random order on the other side:  

– What was the Lord going to do to destroy the wicked?  (Genesis 6:17 
– What did He tell Noah to do to save his family? (
Genesis 6:18)
– What did Noah do to choose the right? (
Genesis 7:5)

Ask the children to read the scriptures and find which one answers each question.  Show the children a picture of Noah building the ark.  Explain that sometimes it is hard to choose the right.  Ask, “How was Noah blessed for choosing the right?”  Encourage the children to share how they will be blessed as they choose the right.

I hope all of you are having a wonderful week so far.
I actually love the idea from the outline. I know it may seem a little ‘childish’ for the Sr. Primary, but honestly, I think they would love it. Maybe it’s just the children in my ward, but I can definitely see them loving the animal sounds part. haha

I’ve thought of a couple different ways you could begin your Sharing Time, here they are:
1. As we all know, Noah told the people there was going to be a flood, but no one listened. As I was thinking of the scripture story I had the idea of having you or another leader come in and tell the children there was going to be a flood (or some other emergency) and that they needed to come with you.
You could say exactly what Noah said or come up with something else. I wouldn’t use anything too scary, we don’t want to frighten the children, just see if they heed your warning. 🙂
After they have followed you show the children a picture of Noah and discuss this scripture story.

2. Invite ‘Noah’ to come to Primary. Invite a child’s father or a member of the Bishopric to come to the Primary as Noah. Have him share the scripture story and maybe answer questions that the children might have.

3. Play ‘Who Am I’: Have 4-5 children come to the front and have them read clues about Noah. Have the other children listen to the clues and have them try to figure out which Prophet they are describing.

Sharing Time Activity Ideas
If you don’t want to do the animal noise match here are a few ideas you could use:

1. Animal Charades/Cranium: You could have them play ‘Animal charades’. Have them act out each animal instead of making the animal noise. You could use the same idea as above where everyone has a match or just have them guess what animal it is. Once the animal is guessed have them add it to the ark.
You could also play this like ‘Cranium’. Have the animals written on strips of paper along with the animal’s name have either: Draw, Mold, or Act.
Have the children draw an animal out of the bucket and then have them either draw the animal, mold it with clay, or act it out as a Charade.

2.  Build an Ark: If you have ‘Noah’ come to primary you could have him tell the children that he was commanded to build an ark. Then have him share how he built the ark.
Split the Primary into small groups and give them ‘building’ supplies (Legos, blocks, boxes, etc.) Then have them build an ark.
After the arks are built have Noah or yourself share why it was important that Noah built the ark.
Then do the Encourage Understanding idea from the Outline.

3. Fill the Ark: You can play as a whole primary or split into teams. For each team have an Ark. 
Come up with 10-15 questions/scriptures. Have several different animals cut-out. On the back of each animal have an answer to your scriptures or questions.
Explain to the children that today they are going to ‘Fill the Ark’. Expain that you are going to read a question or scripture reference aloud. They are going to have to find which answer goes with your question. When they have found the correct answer (on the back of the animal) have them reverently come to the front and add it to their ark.
You can use the questions from the Outline above and then come up with some more additional questions about choosing the right.

    I found this website

    to print out simple silhouettes for the animals, and will put magnet strips on the back so they kids can put the pictures up on the board on top of the ark. For the older kids, I will give them clues about each animal instead of a picture and have them find their partner that way. Just thought I’d share my idea for anyone that’s interested. Thanks so much for all your ideas on this blog, it’s great!
