Sharing Time Idea from the 2016 Outline

Encourage understanding: Brainstorm with the children things they do that have an order to them, such as tying a shoe or getting ready for bed. Explain that in the scriptures we learn that Jesus created the earth in a certain order. Divide the children into six groups and give each group a scripture reference describing one day of the Creation (see Moses 2). Ask each group to draw pictures of their day. Have them show their pictures to the other children and tell them what was created on that day. Invite the children to place the pictures in the correct order on the board.

Encourage application: Ask the children, “What is one thing Jesus created that is important to you?” Give each child a small amount of salt dough (see TNGC, 165, for a salt dough recipe). Let the children use the dough to make the creation that is important to them. (If salt dough is not available, the children could draw a picture of it instead.) Have the children share in their class groups what they have made or drawn and why it is important to them. Sing “My Heavenly Father Loves Me”(CS, 228–29).

Sharing Time Idea from Little LDS Ideas

For this sharing time I thought it would be fun to discuss ‘order’ by inviting a few children up to have them demonstrate different tasks ‘YOUR WAY’! There will for sure be giggles, but it will help the children learn about the importance of order.

Before Primary choose 2-3 things that you will have the children do that have an order to them, examples: putting on shoes, brushing their teeth, making a sandwich, etc.

You could have a table for each task that you will be demonstrating. Invite the first child up and tell them that they are going to be showing the other children how to brush their teeth BUT you are going to be giving them instructions.

Get silly, and do it completely out of order. After they attempt to do the task you could ask them how it should be done, and then discuss why it’s important to do it in the correct order.

Move on to your second task and do the same thing. Then you could move on to the third task, if you choose to do several. After you have done your tasks and the children have ‘taught’ you how to do those things properly you can discuss the importance of doing things and order, and then you can tell the children that in the scriptures we learn that Jesus created the earth in a certain order. Today we are going to learn about the Creation.

The Creation

I really like the idea given in the outline, and think the JR Primary would love splitting into groups, drawing pictures, and then sharing their pictures with everyone.

Divide the children into six groups and give each group a scripture reference describing one day of the Creation (see Moses 2). Ask each group to draw pictures of their day and discuss a little bit about it with their group.

When everyone is finished, invite the first group (Day 1) up to the front an have them share their pictures with everyone. You could invite a child to share what they discusses OR you could have the other children guess what they think was created on Day 1. Continue by inviting up group #2, and so on.

I thought you could also choose one child from each group to stay standing at the front of the room and hold up their number (Day 1, 2, etc.). I have included a printable that you can print off to use for each day.  After each group is done sharing, you will have one child from each day still standing. You could then go through each of the days one more time, and invite someone to share something that they are grateful for from that specific day.

I also saw an idea where they cut out large numbers 1-6 (probably out of poster-board), and had the groups decorate their number according to the creation of that day. Then just have the child hold up the number they decorated.

SR Primary Idea

Test the children’s knowledge of the creation with this fun idea!

Begin by splitting the children into groups (the number of groups depends on how many children you have in your Primary). Ask the children if anyone knows the order of the creation of the Earth. Explain that the children are going to be working in groups putting the days in the order they think is correct.

To do this you could have strips of paper with different descriptions for each day, you could have pictures (use the pictures below found on, or you could have a list and have the children draw a picture for each day.

Have the children work together to put the days of the creation in order. Once everyone has finished invite each group up one at a time to share what they thought was the correct order.  You could 7 children in each group, 6 to hold up pictures or word-strips, and 1 child to share what they decided and why.

After each group has shared you could have someone read from the scriptures about the creation. As you go through each day, invite a child up to the front to hold up a sign/picture to represent that day.

After each of the days have been read, discuss the creation with the children. You could then ask the children to share something about the creation that is important to them.

End by bearing your testimony of the creation.

I hope you enjoy the ideas I shared today, and are able to use them for your Sharing Time. I’d love to hear if you do and how it goes!

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a wonderful day & a great Sharing Time!

Hi Maggie! You could try right clicking on the image and clicking ‘Save As’ or ‘Save Image’. Then just save it to your computer, and open it in Word or another similar program to re-size it. 🙂
