I haven’t shared a handout for ‘Come Follow Me’ lessons in awhile, so I took a look at the August topic and came up with something. I am LOVING this cute handout, and I know the youth in your ward will love it as well.

How can I prepare now to become a righteous wife and mother?

The handout I am sharing today would be great for the lesson, ‘How can I prepare now to become a righteous wife and mother?’ When I read through the suggestions for this lesson, I saw that one of the ‘Activity Ideas’ was from Cheryl A. Esplin’s talk, ‘Filling Our Homes with Light and Truth.‘ I remember Sister Esplin’s talk, and the great object lesson of the crushed can, loved it! I decided to use this wonderful talk and activity idea to create my handout.

August Marriage and Family Come Follow Me

I knew I wanted to incorporate a can, since Sister Esplin talked about a full and crushed can. I had an idea in my head, so I sat down and got busy creating it. I am so happy with the end product!

After I finished my quote card, I decided that I wanted to add another card with two questions from the lesson outline. I always like to add questions or scriptures to help the youth ponder or study a little bit more.

Hand out the question cards and have them answer each question. You could then ask the young women to write on the board a list of righteous women in the scriptures (for example, Ruth, Esther, Eve, Hannah, Emma Smith, and so on). Invite them to choose one woman from the list and read about her in the scriptures (using the Topical Guide or Bible Dictionary). Encourage the young women to share what virtuous traits they recognize and admire in these women and how these traits could help them prepare to be a righteous wife and mother.

You could always hand out my cards as-is, but I think they are so cute attached to a can of soda or juice. I thought about punching a hole in the top and tying it to the can with string or twin, but I ended up just wrapping my cards around the can and tying them with some twine. I am LOVING this handout! If only I taught YW. 🙂

To create your own handout, just download my printable (below) and print! I was planning on printing my cards onto some fun neon colored cardstock, but I didn’t have any, so I went with some brown kraft paper I had. I’m glad I went with the kraft paper, I really like the look of it. But if you don’t have any, no worries, white or colored cardstock would work perfect too.

I would love to hear if you use my handouts, and what you think of them, so leave me a comment. How do you fill your home with truth and light?

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a wonderful day!
